Urupedia – Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) angkat bicara soal peningkatan jumlah pengungsi Rohingya di wilayah Indonesia. Ia menyatakan bahwa pemerintah akan memberikan penampungan sementara bagi pengungsi Rohingya, dengan penegasan bahwa ini merupakan langkah bersifat sementara.
“Saya sampaikan bahwa sementara, sementara, kita tampung,” ujarnya usai meresmikan Stasiun Pompa Air Ancol Sentiong, Jakarta Utara, Senin (11/12/2023).
Presiden Jokowi juga mencermati penolakan yang muncul dari masyarakat lokal, terutama di pesisir Aceh, terhadap kedatangan kapal kayu yang membawa pengungsi Rohingya. Ia mengakui pemahaman terhadap ketidaksetujuan tersebut, sambil terus berkomunikasi dengan organisasi internasional untuk menangani situasi ini.
“Sementara, dan kita masih berbicara dengan organisasi-organisasi internasional, UNHCR dan lain-lain, karena memang masyarakat lokal tidak menginginkannya,” tuturnya.
Sebelumnya, masyarakat pesisir Aceh menolak kedatangan kapal kayu dengan ratusan imigran Rohingya, yang menyebabkan ketegangan sosial antara imigran dan warga setempat.
Kapal tersebut tiba pada tanggal 14 November 2023, membawa 200 orang dalam gelombang pertama. Kemudian 174 orang dalam gelombang kedua pada hari berikutnya, dan 249 orang dalam gelombang ketiga.
