Sisi lain kita berhadapan masyarakat umum yang membutuhkan ilmu-ilmu sosial, yang lebih luas.

Beliau menjelaskan apakah itu IPNU atau PMII menjadi manusia yang mempunyai dua kemampuan itu sekaligus. “Ada yang sudah kuliah di kampus-kampus umum yang dikejar, ada juga yang diseberang santri sekolah sekolah di kampus keagamaan,” ujar beliau.

“Itu sangat dibutuhkan suatu saat nanti harus bertahan, siapa yang boleh berperan, itu orang-orang yang ilmu umumnya dan  agamanya juga menguasai. Kalau tidak nanti akhirnya hanya kepentingan materi yang diperlukan, tidak ada perlindungan dari segi-segi hukum keagamaan ini,” lanjut beliau.

KH. Munsif Nahrawi juga menjelaskan kalau saja suatu saat memliki suatu jabatan tertentu, maka perlindungannya adalah iman. Karena ilmu yang dimiliki, tidak untuk ilmu untuk ilmu, tapi ilmu untuk melengkapi iman dan keyakinan itu.

“Banyak yang sudah terjerumus sekarang yang memiliki jabatan-jabatan kenegaraan, jabatan-jabatan kemasyarakatan. Karena tidak dibentengi dengan kekuatan keyakinan itu iman. Akhirnya jatuh di tengah jalan,” ucap beliau.
